The Olympics

Kevin's questions concerning the olympics and its relation to our spiritual lives are vitally important. I think we can all be fairly convicted by the training and passion of these incredible athletes. I often get the idea that it is wrong to put forth this sort of "effort" in my walk with Christ, because, after all, it is not about what I can do (thank you my fellow Calvinists). On the contrary, the Apostle Paul said that he worked harder than anyone else in order to be fruitful. Kevin has reminded me that these olympic athletes beat their bodies in order to win a medal that will collect dust. Yet, I strive with far less passion toward the goal, the upward call for which Christ has called me heavenward. I am incredibly convicted and I am not talking about following some sort of legalistic regiment. How sad it is that I pursue Christ with less passion and tenacity then Michael Phelps does a prize that will not last. Lord, forgive me and change me.
