"Surely we can change something"

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me." - Matthew 25:35-36

"Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but the sinners." - Mark 2:17

"Where there is pain, let us bring grace. Where there is suffering, bring serenity. For those afraid, help them be brave. Where there is misery, let us bring them relief. And surely we can change something." - David Crowder and his wonderful band

Guys, the Lord is creating something in me with these verses. I've been bothered by a lack of offensive strategy in the church and in myself (not unlike Ohio State's lack of offensive strategy in last night's game). We wait for people in need to come to us when we need to go to them.

God's developing a vision within me about spreading the gospel via meeting needs, but how to start is what I need some help with. My question is this: how do I begin? Where do I begin? Do you guys have any strategies for how I could find out who has needs in my community? Any other thoughts on beginning something large?

Any idea you have will be greatly appreciated.

I love your heart. One thing you can do is contact churches in your area and see what they are doing. Then you could contact YMCA's, shelters, or other public aide type places and see how you can get involved. Some guys from my church did this and they are now leading Bible studies at the YMCA in Louisville for former homeless men, a demographic not often looked to. Every city is unique...have fun!
