Wisdom from my Friends...Part 2

One of the great joys of my life are my Monday conversations with Nick. I knew Nick back when he did not know Christ from a long snap. Every Monday I get to rejoice as I listen to Nick speak of his love for Christ. The evidence of God's magnificent grace is right before my eyes in these conversations, I love it.

This Monday I asked Nick what God is teaching him. He replied:

"I am learning the joy of seeing God provide for my family, without me making providing for my family the consuming reality of my life."

Now, this, like the Kurtz quote, is a botched paraphrase of something that was once quite eloquent. Still, there is something amazing about this quote. In this statement Nick captures the simple truth that when we are consumed and solely focused on providing for our families, we cease to rely on the Lord. Nick is a mighty hard worker, but he lives the truth that our lives are far more than our professions, even when we are in ministry. I love this guy!
