The Generosity Matrix

Matt and I have been discussing Ministries of Mercy by Keller, and I've just been full of guilt for not giving nor doing enough to help the needy. This is not to be the motivation for giving, nor is it what Keller is promoting. We ought to be generous givers motivated by the gospel of Jesus.

...But what does that mean?

Here is a blog post about generous, uncompulsory giving. Justin Taylor summarizes another's post, and though it is quite long, I recommend reading the original post. I think JD Greear does such a good job of taking much of what the Bible has to say about money and possessions and balancing them so that we can be generous but not guilt-driven. This has been a burden for me lately, and I'm excited to discuss this with my wife!
