Hello all,
I'm helping a Christian friend with his addiction to porn. He's convinced that it is wrong and sincerely grieves his sin. He approached me for accountability, but every time I ask about it there is no good news on that front. What advice can you guys give me to help encourage him and spur him on to good works? Anything will help: discipline recommendations, theological foundations, anything. What works for you? What works for others? Have you encountered a situation where a fellow believer cannot seem to overcome sin? If so, what did you do? This also happened to another friend in college - addiction to porn and no victory over it. Since this is a huge issue for boys and men, so I would like to hear some good counseling strategies. I'll respond soon with some things I've said to him once I get some feedback. Thanks!

A few thoughts:
1. Make it a daily part of your prayer life. Bathe this puppy in prayer.
2. Read passages on the holiness and love of God. Passages like these can help make sin look ugly and insane, as it is.
3. Remove the obvious temptations. No more internet at home. Get a good filter.
4. Accountability report daily, not weekly.
5. Identify the key situations that lead to sin, ie., tired, alone, late at night...
These are my initial thoughts.
