Ezra-Nehemiah

Hello all,

For those who are planning to be involved in any type of ministry in building up the church (specifically to those planning to plant a church in Philadelphia), may I recommend to you that you study the books of Ezra and Nehemiah. I've been camped here for many months and have learned so much about how God works to build up a church and a city. I will probably be here for many more months in my study. I want to ask you to join me here.

I understand that we all have our own quiet times, and that I may be interrupting your normal flow or study elsewhere in the good book. Nonetheless, I think it would be great for us all to examine Ezra and Nehemiah and at some point discuss.

What particularly struck me today was Ezra 7:10: "For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the Lord, and to do it and to teach His statutes and rules in Israel." In fact, his heart was so set on the Bible and teaching God's people that he traveled 900 miles over four months with thousands of people (including children and the elderly) to call Israel to repentance by using the gift that God had given him.

Is that your heart, men?
